Jennifer Lopez took one of the biggest stages of her life at the 2021 inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
The ageless entertainer, clad in head to toe white and rocking some serious sparkling diamonds, sang “This Land Is Your Land,” before segueing right into “America the Beautiful.”
Gone were her usual signature shimmies and shakes, replaced instead with nothing but earnest vocals and a pointed shoutout in Spanish translating to “one nation, with liberty and justice for all.”

Lopez inserted a “let’s get loud” shout, both a nod to one of her biggest hits and a call to action, before closing out with a heartfelt “This land was made for you and me.”
Ahead of her performance Wednesday, Lopez shared selfies with the National Guard, who were on hand to help at the Capitol, which was plagued by riots and violence earlier this month. She wrote at the time, “Tomorrow I sing for you and all Americans.”
When Lopez finished, Sen. Amy Klobuchar joked that J.Lo was the opening act for Chief Justice John Roberts as he swore in Biden.

Lopez previously made a major political statement with her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance in 2020, which featured American and Puerto Rican flags and images of children in cages as her daughter, Emme, sang “Born in the USA.”
At the time, she said in a statement, “I want all my girls, the little girls on stage with me and all over the world to know is how to use their voices and be proud of everything they are. Other people can try to build walls, keep us out or put us in cages. We are proud to recognize that all of us together are what makes this beautiful country truly great.”
