These Photos From Jennifer Lopez’s 50th Birthday Party Are Wild
It should come as no surprise that Jennifer Lopez celebrated her 50th birthday with a glitzy, glamorous, star-studded affair. The big event was held at Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s estate on Star Island in Miami, where tents were set up for the partygoers. Of course, Lopez’s fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, was there along with her twins, Max and Emme, who People reports performed a birthday rap and a song for their superstar mom. And the night ended with a fireworks show, naturally.
Other famous faces on hand to celebrate the milestone birthday included DJ Khaled, Ashanti (who also grabbed the mic at one point), Fat Joe, and DJ Cassidy, who was on the turntables for the night. “HAPPY BDAY @jlo ! BLESS UP ! Currently on the way to the dance floor 💃! @lolamilan1 @ashanti @fatjoe @jlo @arod Mama asahd Father of Asahd ( 📸 @walik1 ) #WETHEBEST,” Khaled wrote on Instagram.
He also shared a sweet birthday video featuring family photos and videos of him, Lopez, and their kids. “Hi baby girl, just want to wish you a happy birthday,” he said in the video. “I cannot believe this, baby girl. Since we’ve been together you have made me feel like every day is my birthday.”
“Thank you for your passion and your energy and your inspiration and your endless pursuit to be the best at everything you do,” he continued. “You are simply the best partner in life, the best daughter, the best mother, the best performer. We love you. Your fans love you. Your children love you. And I love you.”
Oh, and Rodriguez also gave Lopez a Porsche because of course he did. Where’s that reaction video, A-Rod?
“I’m crying….I love our life…I love you so much… thank you my beautiful Macho… ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️,” Lopez responded in the comments.
A Brief History of Jennifer Lopez’s Most Iconic Fashion Moments
For nearly all of her career, Jennifer Lopez has reminded us that no matter what she achieves and how famous she becomes, she remains true to herself. She’s still Jenny from the block, so to speak. And leading up to her CFDA Fashion Icon Award—a recognition that will place the 49-year-old Bronx-born artist in an elite squad along with supermodel Naomi Campbell, the late editor Franca Sozzani, and fellow music legends Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Pharrell Williams—it seems evident that this consistency plays a significant part in what’s gotten her to this place.
“Jennifer has always been on the short list to receive this award,” says CFDA president and CEO Steven Kolb. “Fashion is very much about confidence in what we wear, and that is Jennifer.” Diane von Furstenberg, the CFDA’s former chairwoman, adds, “Jennifer Lopez is a pro in every way.”
Of course, as professional as Lopez is, her path to the CFDA Fashion Icon Award is also paved with decades of amazing collaborators, including designers and stylists who’ve inspired—and been inspired by—the multihyphenate talent.
“When you hear the name Jennifer Lopez, you picture a certain singular style—inimitable, of her own,” Zuhair Murad says. Like many A-list celebrities, Lopez has worn Murad’s complexly beautiful couture designs countless times, but the designer insists that she always adds a distinctly unique quality. “The fact that Jennifer wears every look with complete confidence, in my opinion, combined with her experimental style, shapes her influence on style and pop culture in general. She has both the taste and the personality that form a trendsetter, which in turn makes people look up to her and follow her style.”
These qualities date back to the very start of her career, and few of Lopez’s former team members can attest to that more than Andrea Lieberman. Now known for her L.A.–based line A.L.C., Lieberman styled the young dancer turned actress turned singer for 10 years, beginning in 1998. (Yes, that includes putting Lopez in the Versace dress.) “She’s always had an incredible sense of self and always embraced everything strong,” says Lieberman. “She lives it so passionately and so committed to her own vision, and she’s fearless. She truly loves beauty and glamour; it’s a part of who she is.”
Jennifer Lopez Confirms Our Suspicions, Says A-Rod Is the Ultimate Instagram Husband
If you’re looking to find the perfect inspiration to showcase your Instagram-official relationship, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez—masters of the art form—have some advice.
The newly engaged pair have diligently documented their entire romance on Instagram, straight from the moment they went public. From vacations to events, product launches, and even their engagement, it’s all up there for the world to see. And according to Lopez, it’s all thanks to A-Rod’s hard work as an Instagram (future) husband.
“He loves taking pictures and documenting the moment,” Lopez shared with People. Rodriguez echoed his fiancée’s statement, adding that he’s more than happy to photograph and share their every move—especially now that he’s retired from baseball.
“I don’t have to play 162 games anymore, so I have a lot time on my hands,” he said. “I like to have fun.”
But let’s be real, it’s not like A-Rod developed these Insta skills on his own: He happily admitted that he receives a little bit of advice from his daughters Natasha, 14, and Ella, 10, on exactly how to capture a moment for social media the best way.
“My coaches are my girls—they’re my biggest critics,” Rodriguez said. “I know immediately if I posted something dorky, because both of the girls start blowing me up. They’re like, ‘Dad take that down, we’re teenagers. We’re going to be ragged on at school.’ We have fun with it, but they know best because that’s more their strength.”
Of course, the relationship between J.Lo and A-Rod is a symbiotic one. Although Rodriguez has lent even more shine to his future wife’s Insta game, she’s returned the favor by helping him with his own (more literal) style.
Thank God Jennifer Lopez and Shakira Are Headlining the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will headline the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show, Pepsi confirmed on Thursday, September 26.
“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the halftime show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl,” Lopez said in a statement provided by Pepsi, who sponsors the show every year. “And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”
Adds Shakira, “I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world—and to top it off, on my birthday. This is a true American dream and we are going to bring the show of a lifetime!”
