Lisa Vanderpump isn’t going anywhere. For now, anyway.
Over the last few weeks, a ripple in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fandom caused viewers to worry that Vanderpump was exiting the show, after years as its loftiest, most British denizen. Potential clues abounded, like the fact that she skipped former castmate Camille Grammer’s wedding—though the other housewives were there. Co-star Lisa Rinna also fanned the flames when she claimed that Vanderpump hadn’t shown up to film with her castmates in six weeks. “I have no beef with her. Who does that? Who doesn’t show up to work?” Rinna commented on Instagram—not on her own Instagram, mind you, but on a Bravo fan account called juicy_scoops. Now, at last, Vanderpump herself has commented on the issue, telling E.T. that she hasn’t quit the show—she’s just doing it her own way right now.
“I haven’t said anything for two months. Now, everybody’s been talking about this. I’ve just been going about my business and doing my things,” Vanderpump said. “I am in the show. I have not quit, and if I did quit, it wouldn’t just be a leaked story. I would be upfront, and I have a lot of loyalty to the production company and the network.”
She did acknowledge that she’s been struggling over the course of filming this season: “It has been a difficult season . . . But it’s been a difficult year for me personally, and the season was very challenging. So I’m in a lot of it, but there are some parts I skip, and I think people have seen that.”
Vanderpump has been dealing with personal tragedy this year. Her brother, Mark, died in April at the age of 59. A source told E.T. that that’s part of what drew Vanderpump away from Housewives, though the reality star didn’t explicitly say that in the interview.
So, she’s still on the show. But when asked whether this would be her last season, Vanderpump said it “remains to be seen.” At least she won’t be gone from television forever, as there’s still an upcoming season of the tequila-soaked circus that is Vanderpump Rules.
