Meghan Markle Shocked The Royal Family With Secret Pregnancy?
Is Meghan Markle “officially” pregnant? A tabloid this week says so. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
According to the cover story of the latest Life & Style, the Duchess of Sussex is already 3 months along. “There are whispers that Meghan is expecting,” a so-called “source” says, “and that’s one reason she hasn’t been seen out much lately.” The source adds that “privately, she’s said to have told a few close pals” that she’s pregnant.
The tabloid then goes on to suggest that a second child will be a “joyful respite” from the drama of “harsh criticism from the British media” and a “publicly acknowledged feud” with Prince William. Now, the Sussexes are “already discussing baby names.” Despite several steps forward in their new lives and careers in America, the tabloid’s source alleges that lately Markle has “been trying to rest more.”
Honestly, it’s kind of a relief for Gossip Cop to be reading a tabloid story about the Sussexes that isn’t focused on dragging their names through the mud—but that still doesn’t mean it’s true. The tabloid’s sole “source,” if indeed they even exist, doesn’t appear to actually know for sure that Markle’s pregnant, seeing as they can only report “whispers” about her pregnancy. There’s no actual confirmation there — so how could they know first-hand that she and Prince Harry are discussing baby names already? The story just doesn’t make any sense.
Moreover, a couple of weeks ago it was reported that Prince Harry and Markle had signed with Harry Walker, a public speaking agency that also reps the Obamas. So to say that Markle is “trying to rest more” isn’t exactly accurate, considering how she and her husband just took a major step in their joint careers. Sure, the Duke and Duchess have been spotted out in public less – but maybe that has more to do with the fact that they’re splurging on a security team to keep invasive paparazzi away from them. So while it’s entirely possible the couple will decide to expand their family, we seriously doubt this tabloid has anything truthful to say on the matter right now.
Like every other tabloid out there, Life & Style has engaged in nonstop rumormongering about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry since the Suits actress emerged on the scene as the future Duchess of Sussex. In March of this year, the outlet wrote that Tom Cruise – another longtime tabloid fixture – was tying to get Markle to co-star in his next movie. “Tom’s seen what she can do and the camera loves her,” a supposed source explained. Gossip Cop, however, reached out to our own trusted source close to Cruise, who told us the tale was completely untrue.
A month after that, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for a cover story claiming that the Sussexes were out of money and nearly homeless. “They’re crashing at a friend’s pad nearby Malibu to keep costs down and they can’t afford their dream house as of now,” another alleged insider said. That claim, as you can imagine, was also untrue: Prince Charles had already agreed to help his son out with money (non-taxpayer-funded ones, too) until he and Markle were able to achieve financial independence. Shockingly, two people with “Prince” and “Duchess” in their official titles were not nearing homelessness.
Meghan Markle’s Personal Diary Leaked To The Public?
Has Meghan Markle’s personal diary really been leaked to the public? That’s what one extremely deceptive tabloid cover story would have you believe. Gossip Cop can debunk the absurd claim.
The cover of this week’s In Touch is really something to be marveled at, displaying a photo of the Duchess of Sussex writing in a journal under the headline, “Meghan’s Nightmare: Royal Diary Leaked!” The cover suggests that if you pay for the magazine and look inside you’ll find actual excerpts from Markle’s supposed diary detailing everything from “first dates with Harry, fights with the queen,” and even, allegedly, information about Markle “selling Diana’s dresses to pay bills.”
Of course, if you actually fall for it and look inside you’ll find absolutely no real excerpts or evidence that such a diary even exists. All the tabloid alleges is that Markle has “shared with some of her friends” that she kept a diary in 2017 and 2018, which is itself a totally unsubstantiated claim. The diary supposedly even contains Markle’s “step-by-step plan to leave the royal family.”
The tabloid also provides some truly laughable “quotes” from the supposed diary, including lines like “Harry loves me, but do I love him?!?” and “Kate’s silence is so scary when it’s directed at you. At least Beatrice is nice to me.” Yes, they do sound like they were written by a fourteen-year-old, and no, they’re not real: as the tabloid notes in tiny font at the bottom of the page, the quotes are only “renderings of what might be in the diary.”
After taking a good five minutes to laugh nonstop at those “diary entries,” we at Gossip Cop can explain what’s going on here. First of all, there’s the painfully obvious bait-and-switch on the cover which is only designed to hold your attention for as long as it takes you to buy a copy. You’ll know you’ve been duped as soon as you read the actual article.
And second, the tabloid has likely stolen the idea for this story from the Daily Mail, which published an article two weeks ago alleging that Markle would be publishing a “kiss-and-tell-all” book based on a diary she supposedly kept a couple years back. Vanity Fair, a magazine that practices actual journalism, dismissed the claim, quoting a friend of Markle who told the outlet, “the Meghan stories seem to get more far-fetched by the day” and added that they weren’t aware Markle kept a diary.
You might recall that the Daily Mail is one of the four British tabloids the Sussexes have officially cut off communication with, on the grounds that those outlets are “clickbait and distortion,” so it’s not exactly a surprise to see the Mail continually attempting to smear Markle’s name. It’s entirely possible Markle did log her days in the UK in some form or other, but as to the contents all these tabloids can do is make wild guesses at this point.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s photoshopped images have frequently graced the covers of In Touch in equally insulting and deceptive claims. Just a couple weeks ago, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for another clickbait cover story that claimed Markle was being forced to testify in her lawsuit against a British tabloid. Back in February, the publication insisted the Duke and Duchess were “already $6 million in debt.” The lesson is clear here: before you buy a magazine based on its cover story, maybe just double check the article within to make sure you know what you’re getting.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Secretly Splitting?
Is Prince Harry leaving Meghan Markle? A tabloid this week has reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are splitting, and Prince Harry is returning to England. Gossip Cop investigated the rumor.
“Harry Leaves Meghan!” cries the cover of the latest issue of Woman’s Day. The tabloid is claiming that Prince Harry has abandoned his wife and infant son Archie to return to England in secret. The evidence? An unidentified source is quoted as saying there is “movement” at Frogmore Cottage, the Sussexes’ home on the Windsor Castle grounds. “Harry could be in there,” the source speculates, adding, “or possibly their staff.” The tabloid adds that the couple “have been very quiet on social media of late,” even neglecting to make an Instagram post for Father’s Day.
Markle “has to be blindsided by him leaving like this,” a supposed “friend” says. “Their life [in LA] is nothing like Meghan had promised… so far they have been stuck in isolation, have failed to get their non-profit Archewell charity off the ground, and she is yet to score a big acting role to get money coming in.” This supposed pal finishes by suggesting that “sneaking off like this in the middle of a city gripped by a pandemic and racial tensions…is not usually the actions of a happy husband who has so many times sworn to protect his family. Something very serious must be afoot.”
