Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were the proudest, most excited parents when they introduced their new son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world on Wednesday morning. Their appearance and photo call at Windsor Castle also marked the Duchess of Sussex’s first interview since becoming a mom.
And she received a little encouragement, courtesy of her husband. According to a lip reader who spoke to Metro UK, Prince Harry whispered, “Here we go,” to Markle before they stepped in front of the cameras. Best. Prince. Ever.
Tina Lannin, the lip reader, also said Prince Harry looked down at his son and commented, “He’s so quiet,” during the photo call.
“It’s pretty amazing. I mean, I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy,” Markle told journalists this afternoon, adding Archie has “the sweetest temperament” and is “really calm.”
The photo call was quick, easy, and even featured a few callbacks to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship. Markle wore a white trench dress, which is similar to what she wore for her and Prince Harry’s engagement press conference.
A few hours after the photo call, the couple released another image on their official Instagram account of Archie meeting Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.
“This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion,” the post’s caption reads.
The whole day was incredibly special, and Prince Harry’s little whispered moment makes it even sweeter. It’s also a little reminiscent of that perfect second during the royal wedding when Prince Harry looked at Markle and mouthed, “You look amazing.” Excuse us while we swoon for days.
Here’s hoping Meghan and Harry can rest after such an action-packed day.
Meghan Markle Surprised Her Royal Wedding Makeup Artist on Her Trip to New York
For taking a weekend jaunt to the U.S. Open, Meghan Markle sure had a packed itinerary. First she swung by a hot yoga class. Then she was the greatest fan of all time to friend Serena Williams. In between, she apparently made it to her longtime makeup artist’s birthday party.
Makeup artist Daniel Martin shared on Instagram yesterday that his birthday party included a surprise visit by none other than Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. “Thanks to everyone for reaching out to me today and Meg, love you friend for surprising me on my special day,” he wrote. He gave his followers a look at plate of mini birthday cupcakes, but didn’t offer up any more details about Markle’s unexpected appearance.
Royals fans will remember that Martin and Markle go way back. He crafted Markle’s glowy makeup look for her royal wedding in 2018, and they’d been friends for ten years prior to her big day. Naturally, they’re still part of each other’s most important moments. “We text a lot because I’m always traveling and the time difference between our two countries is challenging to just hop on a call,” he told Glamour last year.
Markle’s ascent to the royal family hasn’t changed her relationship with Martin, even if they don’t see each other as often. He also attended her New York City baby shower in February. “It was a reunion for all of us, too, who hadn’t seen each other since the wedding,” he told People at the time. “Snow was falling outside, and it was so cozy — we all sat on couches or on the floor and told stories and caught up. It was like going to a family reunion.”
Martin hasn’t confirmed the next time that he’ll be on hand to put together Markle’s makeup look. But if Markle’s birthday surprise for Martin says anything, it’s that becoming the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t changed her closest friendships.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Breaking Royal Etiquette on Their Tour, and It’s Confusing Officials
We’re only a day into Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal tour of southern Africa, and there’s already some gossip. If you’ve been following the couple’s adventures today in Cape Town, then you no doubt have seen their pics with some of the locals. They’re hugging people, shaking hands, laughing, and dancing—all things that are relatively informal by royal standards. This is reportedly an intentional move on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s part. Katie Nicholl, a royals expert, wrote in Vanity Fair this week that Markle and Prince Harry are wanting this trip to have “minimal fuss, formality, or protocol.”
“This isn’t a holiday, and they don’t want it to look like one,” a source tells VF. “This has been months in the planning, and a lot of hard work has gone into the schedule. Their royal highnesses want to do some serious work on the ground, particularly at a community level.”
Check out just a few pics from the trip, below:
The Royal Family Made Meghan Change One Big Thing
The duchess is due to give birth to her first baby with Prince Harry any day now. However, unlike previous royal babies, the news of Harry and Markle’s little one will not be announced until a few days after the birth.
Earlier this month, Buckingham Palace announced the couple will opt out of the Lindo Wing photo-op, which was started by Princess Diana after the birth of both Prince William and Harry, and continued on by William and Kate Middleton after the birth of all three of their children.

Instead, Markle is rumored to be having a home birth, and the couple will hold a photo-call at Windsor Castle with their newborn a few days after he or she is born.
Richard Fitzwilliams, royal commentator and former editor of “The International Who’s Who,” told INSIDER that since Markle’s child will be seventh in line to the throne, the duchess will be afforded more privacy, unlike Kate Middleton, whose children are third, fourth, and fifth in the line of succession.
“There were reports that Kate would have preferred a home birth for Louis but felt that the occasion demanded more exposure because of her status,” he explained.
“Since the new arrival is seventh in line to the throne, Harry and Meghan have the choice of more privacy and if they choose to exercise it, it would mean returning to previous royal traditions.
“Undoubtedly the waiting press will be supplied with the photographs to satisfy the vast global demand.”
