Robert De Niro Having Angry Meltdown Over Divorce And Former Assistant’s Lawsuit?
Robert De Niro is not having an angry meltdown, despite a report claiming the actor has been pushed to the edge amid his divorce from Grace Hightower and a lawsuit from former assistant Graham Chase Robinson. The story isn’t accurate. Gossip Cop can correct it.
“Raging De Niro Blows His Top!” reads a headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer. The legendary actor has been going through a divorce from his wife of more than 20 years, and earlier this month, his former assistant sued him for alleged gender discrimination and wage violations. According to the magazine, De Niro’s pals now fear his “anger is eating him alive.”
“He can’t handle these women coming after him and his money,” an alleged insider tells the outlet. “The pressure of knowing he could lose all his money to these women has him going ballistic over almost everything.” From there, a “mental health expert” who’s never treated or met De Niro suggests he should seek professional help “for his own sake as well as for the people around him.” This medical professional is basing their opinion on the Enquirer‘s account of the situation, which isn’t true.
Gossip Cop ran the tabloid’s report by De Niro’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record it’s “100 percent fabricated.” The actor’s rep, who’s qualified to speak on his behalf, adds, “There is no basis for these false claims.” The unreliable outlet is simply trying to exploit the actor’s personal and legal issues. A divorce and a lawsuit would take a toll on anyone, but we’re assured De Niro has his emotions completely under control, and no one in the actor’s inner circle is worried about his mental state.
As opposed to having a breakdown, De Niro has been busy promoting his upcoming Netflix movie The Irishman, recently attending red carpet premieres in New York City and London. The actor has also been on the talk show circuit, with recent appearances on The Tonight Show and The Graham Norton Show. De Niro has been quite jovial while promoting the movie. Sure, he might be one of the greatest actors of all time, but it’s hard to imagine even De Niro could keep it together if he was in the midst of an angry breakdown and spiraling out of control.
This wouldn’t be the first time the Enquirer has attempted to create drama in the actor’s life. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming De Niro was feuding with Cher because she was denied a table at one of the restaurants he owns. The publication simply knows nothing about the actor’s personal life.
Cher Angry At Robert De Niro Over Restaurant Snub?
Is Cher angry at Robert De Niro over being denied a table at one of his restaurants? That’s the absurd claim in one of the new tabloids. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story.
According to the National Enquirer, Cher recently tried to dine at a Nobu in London, but was told the restaurant was closed for a private function. The singer supposedly had her driver take her to a different Nobu less than a mile away, but was told they were completely booked. A so-called “insider” now tells the magazine she’s blaming the alleged brush-off on De Niro, who co-owns the restaurant chain.
“I wouldn’t want to be in the same room the next time these two come together,” says the questionable source. “Cher doesn’t like it when she’s not treated like Hollywood royalty.” The supposed tipster further contends that the iconic singer also “had strong words for the restaurant staff” that turned her away. “This has all the makings of a big Hollywood feud,” concludes the seemingly nonexistent insider.
This bizarre tale is coming from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Cher’s rep says on the record that the incident never occurred. Even if it had, the tabloid’s premise makes very little sense. De Niro co-founded and co-owns the Nobu restaurant chain, but he’s not personally in charge of reservations on a nightly basis. The idea that Cher would hold the actor responsible for her not being able to get a table is illogical. Regardless, the magazine’s account of events never happened.
It’s possible this story was made up to capitalize on a recent rumor about De Niro banning President Donald Trump from eating his Nobu restaurants. However, the actor’s rep later told The Hollywood Reporter, “Bob has not banned anyone from dining at Nobu… No one is banned.” This further shows that De Niro doesn’t decide who can and can’t eat at the establishment.
It should be noted, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out a tabloid for falsely claiming that the singer was at odds with another big star. Last November, Gossip Cop busted the Enquirer‘s sister outlet, Star, for alleging that Cher was feuding with Meryl Streep on the set of the Mamma Mia! sequel. In reality, the two women have been friends for decades. One month after we debunked the claim, Cher defended Streep after the actress was accused of knowing about Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct. Her conflict with De Niro is equally imaginary.
Sharon Stone Furious With Robert De Niro And Martin Scorsese For Refusing To Work With Her?
Is Sharon Stone furious with Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese for supposedly refusing to work with her again? That’s the claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can correct the phony story.
Stone scored an Oscar nomination for playing De Niro’s wife in 1995’s Casino, which Scorsese directed. According to the Globe, however, the two men have wanted nothing to do with her since. “She’s approached Martin and Robert a few times over the years, hoping to team up on something juicy and get that Casino magic back, but they keep blowing her off,” a supposed source tells the outlet.
The alleged insider goes on to say that Stone “would have loved a part in The Irishman,” but De Niro and Scorsese snubbed her. “Seeing it flop at the Oscars was sweet justice,” adds the suspicious tipster. The questionable source further contends that Stone’s “neediness” while filming Casino is the reason De Niro and Scorsese have ignored her pleas to collaborate again. “Some people recall Sharon was always asking Scorsese for pointers on how to play a scene or flesh out the character. But he’s a director who likes to give his actors the freedom to think it out for themselves.”
Here’s what the tabloid doesn’t realize: Stone appeared in Scorsese’s Bob Dylan documentary Rolling Thunder Revue, which was released on Netflix last summer. Not only does the actress appear in the film – she actually had no real reason to be included considering that Rolling Thunder Revue is a semi-fictional documentary. Stone is interviewed in the movie, but according to Rolling Stone, Scorsese “wound up bringing in Sharon Stone to pretend she was a college-age girlfriend of Dylan on the tour, complete with doctored photos of them together.”
Meanwhile, Stone raved about working with De Niro and Scorsese during a 2018 interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan. “What a great director. Every Scorsese film is a keeper,” she said. As for her former co-star, the actress noted that working with De Niro was her “dream” as an actress.
During an interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast that same year, Stone said, “Working with Marty in any capacity is, for me, just an absolute pleasure.” The actress also honored Scorsese at his AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony in 2010. Simply put, Stone has frequently praised her former co-star and director in the 25 years since they worked together, and she collaborated with Scorsese again just last summer. The tabloid’s article is baseless.
Last year, Gossip Cop busted the Globe‘s sister publication, the National Enquirer, for falsely claiming Stone was “reuniting” with Basic Instinct co-star Michael Douglas, much to the chagrin of his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones. That story was also made up. The tabloids seem to enjoy creating drama between the actress and her colleagues from decades ago.
