‘Horndog’ Steve Harvey Divorcing Over ‘Wandering Eye’?
Did Steve Harvey’s wife, Marjorie, threaten to divorce him? A few months ago, a tabloid claimed that she was going to leave him due to his “wandering eye” and rumors about his infidelity. Gossip Cop investigated the story. After taking time to check out the facts, here’s what we found out.
In October 2019, the National Enquirer alleged that Marjorie Harvey was fed up with Steve and that their marriage had hit a crisis. Dubbing the Family Feud host as a “horndog”, the tabloid argued that the spouses’ 12-year marriage had been strained for a while after Steve was hit with cheating rumors and the cancellation of his two shows. “It’s no secret Steve has a wandering eye, and rumors keep trickling back to Marjorie. Word is, she’s threatening divorce,” a so-called source told the publication.
The magazine said the cheating rumors might be true after Marjorie posted pictures of herself without her wedding ring during a trip to the California Desert National Conservation Area with a gal pal. “Steve cheated on both of his previous wives. Marjorie needed to get away and clear her head,” the supposed insider added. Of course, Marjorie technically could have “threatened” to divorce Steve Harvey at any point in the past several months, but we highly doubt it. The magazine’s story came out nearly eight months ago and the spouses are still together.
Earlier this year, Steve Harvey posted a birthday tribute on Instagram for Marjorie. “Today I honor the most special group on planet earth, WOMEN … the one group who is responsible for every single human life ever made in the world … Past present and future… I honor and thank you For your amazing accomplishments,” the game show host wrote as the caption. Marjorie also shared a photo of the couple a few weeks ago on her Instagram page of their return trip to their home in Atlanta. Obviously, no one’s being threatened with anything here.
Steve Harvey ‘Quitting Hollywood’?
Is Steve Harvey quitting Hollywood? A recent article in a tabloid is claiming Harvey is “leaving” Tinseltown after the cancellation of his show. Gossip Cop has investigated the story and here’s what we found out.
The National Enquirer alleges Harvey is “slamming the door” on Hollywood. The outlet describes the television host as “raging” and claims Harvey is still “smarting” from the cancellation of his daytime show, Steve. The tabloid alleges now Harvey and his wife, Marjorie, are leaving their Beverly Hills mansion and moving back to Atlanta. So-called sources tell the magazine Harvey prefers to live out east and will do the majority of filming for Family Feud in Georgia.
“Steve had a successful crew when he did his show in Chicago but he fired them all and went all in to start fresh in Los Angeles,” a source tells the outlet. The supposed source continues, “Now he’s come back with his tail between his legs! He’s been telling pals the Hollywood crowd just wasn’t for him and he didn’t click with the TV people out there. Marjorie enjoyed the lifestyle and the sun, but it was never quite Steve’s taste.”
While it is true Harvey’s program was canceled last year, and the news of the cancellation came as a shock to Harvey, the game show host was not “smarting” from it. In fact, Harvey revived the show on Facebook Watch earlier this year at Tyler Perry’s Studio in Atlanta, and Harvey always had other projects he did in the southern state, as well. That doesn’t mean the actor is “leaving Hollywood,” or show business, as the headline implies, he’s just headed for Y’allywood. The Enquirer doesn’t know what it’s talking about.
It’s no surprise the Enquirer was off-base with its narrative since the Enquirer has made incorrect claims about the Kings of Comedy star before. In June 2018, Gossip Cop busted the phony tabloid for falsely claiming Harvey and Marjorie were divorcing over Kris Jenner. The dubious outlet asserted Harvey and Marjorie were getting divorced again a month later. Both stories alleged the couple was facing a $400 million divorce because Majroire felt Harvey had gotten too close to Jenner. However, the Enquirer failed to mention that Jenner was very close to Harvey’s wife and had no evidence to support its story. Gossip Cop corrected both accounts at the time.
Did Steve Harvey Plot His Revenge Against NBC?
It was reported last year that Steve Harvey was in the running to take over Wendy Williams’ talk show, which he’d use to get revenge on NBC for firing him. The tabloid that published this twisted tale of vengeance and pettiness has a terrible track record when it comes to sticking to the truth. Gossip Cop investigated this allegation and found they’d done it again.
The National Enquirer claimed that “cigar-chomping” Harvey was looking for ways to stick it to his former network, and he believed taking over The Wendy Williams Show was the perfect way to do it. The controversial talk show hostess announced in February of 2019 that she’d be going on a three-week hiatus due to health issues originating from Graves’ disease. Describing Harvey as a “cutthroat comic,” the outlet argued that he was on the shortlist of potential candidates FOX was eyeing to replace Williams if her health took longer than expected to recover.
Nick Cannon, who was also on this alleged list of potential replacements, stepped in for the former shock DJ. “It would take a very particular personality to step into Wendy’s shoes,” snitched a supposed source, adding, “The FOX guys see Steve as a big enough name, and word in the industry is the way he’s been treated by NBC, he feels they don’t deserve him.”
Harvey infamously found out the talk show he’d hosted for seven years was ending by hearing about it on the news. For this slight, the outlet speculated, he’d probably be willing to take over for Wendy Williams, given that her slot on FOX and Kelly Clarkson’s slot on NBC were at the same time. “Steve is all about one thing: winning.” said yet another “entertainment insider.” “He’s not going to let Kelly come out of nowhere, steal his time slot and get an easy ride.”
In reality, Gossip Cop found this story to be absolutely false. Wendy Williams’ health improved and she returned to the air after her doctor recommended hiatus. Though she occasionally sparks controversy, Williams has even continued broadcasting since going into self-isolation in reaction to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
As for Steve Harvey, the host with the most, he was certainly upset by the way NBC released the news about his cancelled talk show. However, he doesn’t seem to be holding a grudge against Clarkson specifically, nor does he seem the type to focus on getting back at someone who wronged him.
“I like Kelly Clarkson. I’m happy for her,” Harvey said during an appearance on Ellen. During his final show, Harvey talked about his future, saying, “I happen to be 62 years old. I am in the middle of my 62nd chapter of the book that I’m writing.” The Little Big Shot host continued, “All I’m doing is I’m about to turn it. I can’t wait to see what God’s got for me on that other page.” That doesn’t seem like the sort of man who’d turn around and try to get petty revenge on an old workplace and a woman who had nothing to do with the decision that hurt him in the first place. The story reads like something out of a low-budget soap opera, not reality.
This isn’t the first time the National Enquirer got the story wrong for Steve Harvey. The outlet had previously reported that Harvey’s wife, Marjorie, walked out on him after he lost his talk show. Gossip Cop investigated the rumor and found it to be totally false. The host and his wife are still very much married.
